Happy Birthday to Trish Davis!
-by Coach Kost
Many of you do not know Trish, but there is a little story behind her and how CrossFit Integrity came to be. Trish and I worked together for a while at SPAWAR in North Charleston. Then, a few years ago, Trish’s job transferred her to SPAWAR San Diego in the state of California (where CrossFit originated). She started crossfitting at CrossFit San Diego soon after her move out West and became instantly hooked. She quickly became a CrossFit certified coach and has been coaching at CrossFit San Diego for several years. You can read more about Trish on her coaching profile, but I can say first-hand that she truly represents what CrossFit is about through her strong dedication, commitment, passion for the sport.
It was in the winter of 2008 when Trish, Sara B, myself, and a bunch of our friends met in Colorado for our annual snowboard trip. We were there for five/six days or so and I can recall Trish asking me to try this “CrossFit” workout with her at the hotels mini-globogym each morning. I simply deferred the inquiry and was like, “No thanks!”. She would get up extra early to hit up her WOD (even though we got up at the crack of dawn to be the first at the lifts of Keystone and Breckenridge to get to the back bowls as early as we could). I recall saying to myself that this girl is crazy getting up extra early on a vacation….. and there is no way to get a 15 minute workout where it actually works…… and why the hell would I want to workout knowing that we were going to be shredding the fresh powder for next 8 hours. Anyway, that is what she did and she had fun doing it.
After the trip, she kept talking to me about crossfit. Soon after that is when I started to follow CrossFit San Diego’s website and crossfit.com. I began working a little of the CrossFit regiment into my workouts at the globogym. Then, early in the summer of 2008, my work sent me to San Diego to attend a week-long conference. Weeks leading up to my trip, I let Trish know that I wanted to come check out CrossFit San Diego. The day I arrived, she took me through their 6pm class. Needless to say, I became instantly hooked and attended 6 classes in the span of 5 days! A few months later I returned to CFSD to get my coaching certification.
So here we are…. A lot of credit goes to Trish for instilling the CrossFit philosophy into my fitness regime. Without her constantly talking about it and asking me to try it, who knows, I may still be performing bicep curls in front of the mirror at the Globogym, all while listening to the clanking of the lat pull-down and abductor machines, boring music, dull sound waves of the treadmills and ellipticals, encompassed with all the staring and muscle flexing that occurs.
I thank Trish for breaking me away from the globogym atmosphere, helping me become actively involved with CrossFit, and for where we (us at CrossFit Integrity) all are at with our fitness levels today. Our gym’s personality and the way we go about our business is somewhat a resemblance of CrossFit San Diego. Keep up the good work at CrossFit Integrity and if you are ever in San Diego for a visit, work, or play, I highly recommend you attend a class at CFSD. Just ask for Trish!

Trish is my hero and a lot of my motivation for doing crossfit! If anyone is ever in San Diego, definitely stop by and do a WOD with her! My first WOD ever was with Trish in a globo-gym at one of the resorts. It made for a painful day of snowboarding to say the least. Happy belated B-day Trish and come visit us in Charleston! Looking forward to today
B!!! This is the best birfday present ever!! I am so proud of you for all that you have done! I can’t wait to get to Charleston to come check out the place. I know you’ve done a great job with it and I am proud of you!
