Athlete Profile: Edmund Major

1.  In general, what is your background?

Literate Single Southern White Bi-Partisan Male.  Not necessarily in that order.

2.  Age, Occupation?

39 and holding.  Mover and Shaker by Day, Shucker and Jiver by Night.

3.  How did you get to know about CrossFit and why did you start?

This will come as a complete shock to many of you but I heard about CrossFit from a bartender, Jennifer Audi, at Obrion’s. I went the next day and talked to Brian he told me he would give me a two week trial period. I took it as a dare not knowing at the time he gave everyone a free two weeks. The reason I started CrossFit, aside from the fact I was obese,is  because I wanted to enter my 40’s in better shape than I was in my 30’s.

4.  How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?

I actually enjoy going to the gym despite what I may say during the WOD.  I will never step on a stair master again…..ever.  Seriously what is my fitness level now compared to when I walked in the door of CrossFit….needless to say I was a F**king mess so… night and day would be an appropriate comparison.

5.  Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit?

CrossFit Total 1000lbs and perfect the kip.

6.  Favorite CrossFit moment so far?

Making it through the first 2 months of CrossFit in July and August. Rx-ing pullup WODs without bands.  You feel pretty gay, not that there is anything wrong with that, until you get off the bands.

7.  What do you like most about CrossFit Integrity?

The people.  We have an eclectic group of people who all share one common trait and that is we are all gluttons for punishment.

8.  Favorite WOD?

I feel like this is a trick question so I am going to pass.

9.  Least favorite WOD?

Anything involving my least favorite movements.  See below.

10. Favorite movement?

If I have to pick one I will go with Shoulder Press because it is the only thing I am on the board for.

11. Least favorite movement?

Burpees and all of its variations.  All of them I hate so much.  Followed closely by OHS….and situps.

12. Favorite place to eat in Charleston?

Carolina’s, Rue de Jean, and Poe’s even though I may have gotten food poisoning last time I ate there.

Eloquent and humorous with just a touch of offensive….I loved it!

The most entertaining profile I’ve read to date. Thanks Edmund!

Thanks Edmund for the shout out! Just for the record, bartending is a part time gig for me. I am now CrossFit Level 1 Cert and I am going for my endurance Cert in May. Also, coaching full time at Lowcountry Crossfit. Glad to see you drank the Kool Aid. It’s very addictive…hehe
