Athlete Profile: Scott Rosiak

1. In general, what is your background?

I grew up on a large lake in Sparta, New Jersey. I went to Blair Academy where I played several sports for the private school. I raced for the USSA in downhill skiing, and played football, golf, lacrosse, and founded the mountain bike/rock climbing club. In deciding what college would be my best fit, I followed my passion for skiing and lacrosse and headed further north to The University of Vermont. In my second year at UVM, my family moved south to Hilton Head, SC. When I graduated, I moved south for good and never looked back. Ten years ago I settled down in beautiful Charleston.

2. Age, Occupation?

I am 32 years old. Owner of Rosco Industrial Supply Co., Inc. Our business headquarters is out of Ridgeland, SC, and a hub location in N Charleston. Rosco is an industrial distributor that supplies to redi-mix, manufacturing plants, trucking, steel mills, construction/contractors, municipalities, government, rock quarry’s, etc….

3. How did you get to know about CrossFit and why did you start?

I believe Ashleigh Bowers and the Zanster first brought up the word Xfit to me. I was becoming more and more unmotivated with the typical gym movements. With my life as social as it is, the gym would just slow me down from what I was trying to accomplish in the first place. With everyone talking about their weekend plans and who did what……it came to a point that my strategy of blasting music from my ipod and ignoring everyone in the gym was not enough for me to concentrate on my workout routine to keep me in the shape that I was striving so hard for. The two wild women above couldn’t have come into my life at a better time….in regards to xfit that is;)

4. How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?

Xfit in the beginning was a new challenge to me. This challenge was what began my addiction to going into xfit day after day, excited to see what the new wod would be. Today, xfit remains a challenge because their is always new things to learn, and previous personal times to beat. Xfit allows you to be competitive with others if you wish, pushing yourself past the limits where you thought you would have to stop.  <oreover, I have converted over to eating more strict/clean. I did strict paleo for the first 3 months after joining xfit 7 months ago. Now, I keep myself about 85% paleo to keep my insanity and friends off my back making fun of me….Eating paleo helps to keep you healthy mentally, and feeling good in the gym.

5. Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit?

I have had several goals after joining xfit. I try to keep my weight where I feel is healthy and in shape for me…193lbs. Currently, I am spending time everyday after my workouts working on my double unders. They are still my biggest challenge in a wod, and gas me more than anything else does. Lastly, xfit for me is a lifestyle. I plan to remain a member for a very long time.

6. Favorite CrossFit moment so far?

I think my favorite moment of all things I have experienced in xfit still remains oddly enough the Paleo Diet. I have done a lot of research on the topic by reading books, and speaking with strong followers, such as Nigel.

7. What do you like most about CrossFit Integrity?

Crossfit Integrity has a feeling of family to me. With everyone warming up together, to passing out on the floor after a kick ass wod. This type of experience much closely resembles the days of all of us playing competitive sports in the earlier years, and a sense of being once again on a team. Cheering each other on and spending time with one another is personally rewarding and instills a good sense of belonging. Integritys trainers I consider to be “real”, and not some flyby gym/business people looking to do something that looks “cool”. The passion BK shows for the sport has attracted my attention and determined me to push myself beyond my limits. Integrity’s trainers put their heart and soul into their passion of training the proper form and to keep moving, and thats what inspires us members to go and get our beatdowns day after day.

8. Favorite WOD?

Fight gone bad. Anything that combines strength and stamina for short burst periods are really fun to me.

9. Least favorite WOD?

Currently anything involving DU’s…I get smoked on my time in any wod that has these..

10. Favorite movement?

Anything involving weight overhead, climbing ropes, burpees…

11. Least favorite movement?

Heavy squats. They are my main weakness.

12. Favorite place to eat in Charleston?

I mainly eat seafood followed by chicken/steak meals w/ veggies…. With that being said my house and another page of my cookbook, Hanks, Garibaldis, Zen, Halls….
