Athlete Profile: Cindy Bass

1. In general, what is your background?
Grew up in the Carolinas and attended Winthrop University. Decided I wanted to join the Air Force so I enlisted and the journey began. I commissioned from the University of South Carolina in 2002 and have lived in various places such as Colorado, South Dakota, and Washington State. Found my way back home and moved to Charleston in July. I love living near the water, warm weather, and of course Gamecock Football. Go Cocks!
2. Age, Occupation?
34, Aircraft Maintenance Officer, United States Air Force Reserves
3. How did you get to know about CrossFit and why did you start?
Being in the military, I heard about CrossFit a couple of years ago and started looking at the website but never met anyone who belonged to a CrossFit gym. My workouts typically consisted of some cardio, free weights and machines. I was bored with the same routine at the gym and I felt like I wasn’t getting the results that I wanted. When I got to Charleston, I heard some people talking about it and decided to give CrossFit a try. I have been hooked ever since my first WOD and everyday is a new challenge.
4. How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
I have consistently worked out over the past 6 years or so 5 to 6 days a week at the globogym and have only been Crossfitting for the last 4 months and am in the best shape of my life. I have even taken baby steps and introduced Paleo menus into my diet. It works—I even took off 45 seconds from last year’s physical fitness test.
5. Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit?
RX a heavy weighted WOD
6. Favorite CrossFit moment so far?
Definitely the Veteran’s Day WOD. It was great to see so many people there doing the WOD together. There was definitely a lot of energy in the facility that day.
7. What do you like most about Crossfit Integrity?
I love the challenge, the newness, the complex movements, and the feeling of accomplishment as soon as the WOD is over. I like the direction of the coaches and the encouragement of all the other Crossfitters that know how much a WOD can hurt.
8. Favorite WOD?
300
9. Least favorite WOD?
Not a big fan of any 20 min AMRAP WOD. 100 burpees for time suck too.
10. Favorite movement?
Deadlift
11. Least favorite movement?
Burpees and pull-ups
12. Favorite place to eat in Charleston?
Kim’s has the best Korean Food in town.

Thanks I guess we will be doing the 300 this week….
