JCC

1. In general, what is your background?

I grew up in Greenville, SC and went to undergrad at USC where I received my BS in Biology.  I never played any sports in high school or college. I was not a very physically active teenager/young adult – I was either working or had my head in the books.  Little known fact – I actually graduated Valedictorian and Summa Cum Laude if that tells you anything about how much time I dedicated to my education. Two days after I graduated college, I moved to Charleston to start the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at MUSC.  I will graduate May 15th of this year. This Friday will be my last day at CFI and I will temporarily relocate to the Fort Jackson Army Community Hospital for my final clinical rotation.

2. Age, Occupation?

25, physical therapy

3. How did you get to know about CrossFit and why did you start?

I gained a lot of weight (as in 170#) when I moved to Charleston.  I didn’t like it so I started dieting hardcore and dropped down to 128#.  I wanted to start working out to keep the weight off and I heard a lot about Crossfit from some of my classmates.  I decided to check it out and walked into CFI one day. I signed up for Fundamentals on the spot and have been hooked since then.

4. How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?

I never lifted a weight in my life until I started at CFI a year and a half ago. I remember failing a 33# clean the first few times I tried and I couldn’t get a pullup to save my life.  A few months later I started improving and became much more confident.  Now I make it a point to try to be in the gym at least 6 days a week.

5. Name one goal you would like to accomplish through CrossFit?

Put 200# overhead

6. Favorite CrossFit moment so far?

Hitting a 150# push press

7. What do you like most about CrossFit Integrity?

The programming. No matter how efficient I think I am at a movement, the workouts constantly challenge me.

8. Favorite WOD?

Grace

9. Least Favorite WOD?

Anything with running

10. Favorite movement?

Box jumps, dumbbell snatches

11. Least Favorite movement?

Overhead squats/Snatches

12. Favorite restaurant in Charleston?

M-W, F-Sun: Senor Tequila – they know my order by heart

Thursday: Taco Spot for the $5 burrito

CrossFit Integrity, Charleston, SC
