Athlete Profile: Mark Edmunds
1. In general, what is your background?
Well, I was born in an igloo just outside of Toronto, Ontario (you’d be surprised how many people believe that). But no really, i lived in Canada until i was about 5 at which point I moved down to Atlanta with my mom and brother. I Stayed there until the age of 16 when I moved solo back up to Toronto to live with my dad. At the age of 23 I ended up reconnecting with an old friend from GA, who now just so happens to be my beautiful fiance Ashley. The rest they say is history, I moved back to Atlanta to be with her, where after a short time we found ourselves lucky enough to find jobs here in Charleston doing what we both love.
2. Age, Occupation?
25, Firefighter/EMT for St. Johns Fire District
3. How did you get to know about CrossFit and why did you start?
A friend of my fiance’s turned me on to it. Got the chance to meet Brian, who told me to come check it out, and i have never looked back since.
4. How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
The thing i always tell people when i TRY to explain crossfit is , you think you are in good shape…until you try crossfit. I have always had an interest in sports, and working out, but crossfit takes it to another level. The biggest change i’ve noticed is in my endurance and my cardio for sure.
5. Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit?
I’d love to have a six pack!
