Athlete Profile – Bob Morrison
1. In general, what is your background?
I was born in Queens, NY & lived on Long Island as a kid. My family moved to Detroit for three years and then to the Philadelphia suburbs. I have also lived in Baltimore (20 years), Charleston (7 years) & Boston (2 years) as an adult. I consider Philadelphia “home.”
2. Age, Occupation?
61, formerly the CFO of a local startup college. Presently working on getting back into consulting, starting a college football recruiting web site & getting my CPA.
3. How did you get to know about CrossFit and why did you start?
I heard about CF from my nephew who is a Green Beret. When I was living in Philadelphia there were no CFs within reasonable driving distance. I found about CF-I while walking by BK’s car in the Northwood Mall’s parking lot.
4. How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
CF has been beneficial to me on many levels. Many of the exercises (rope climbing, Olympic lifts, ring work, HSPU, etc.) I had never been exposed to prior to joining the club. Second, I felt I was in “pretty good shape” and soon realized I wasn’t in CF shape after joining. The most important aspect which has benefited me is the “Mental Toughness” of CF. Having the “mind control the body” has been positive work-in-progress for me.
5. Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit?
I would like to OH squat 200 lbs
6. Favorite CrossFit moment so far?
My favorite moment was attending the recent fund raiser. I was very impressed with the entire event.
7. What do you like most about CrossFit Integrity?
CF people are “givers.” They put “in” more than they take out. I also like the fact many of our members are canine & equine lovers.
8. Favorite WOD?
Any workout with pullups.
9. Least favorite WOD?
I don’t have one.
10. Favorite movement?
Squats
11. Least favorite movement?
I need to really work on HSPU & OH squats.
12. Favorite place to eat in Charleston?
Water’s Edge (MP), Laura Alberts (DI), and The Woodlands.
