Athlete Profile: Simon Lyth
1. In general, what is your background?
I was born and raised in a little village called Rhosllannerchrugog (a six pack for whoever can pronounce that correctly!) in Wales and grew up playing soccer and rugby at a fairly competitive level. In my late 30’s I retired from all of that due to injury and took up triathlons as an alternate. Eventually got tired of those and therefore just did general fitness work like running and lifting weights to try and keep in shape, but then I discovered CrossFit…………
2. Age, Occupation?
46, Aeronautical Structures Engineer
3. How did you get to know about CrossFit and why did you start?
A guy I was working with in Everett was a part time instructor at a CrossFit gym in Mukilteo, Wa. I was telling him how lifting and running was getting repetitive and tedious and so he asked me to give CrossFit a go to see what I thought, and now I am hooked.
4. How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
I feel CrossFit has improved my fitness levels tremendously, both my endurance and my strength. It has also driven me to eat more sensibly, which is no mean feat I can tell you.
5. Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit?
I would like to be able to Rx everything, it ticks me off when we do a WOD where I can’t Rx.
6. Favorite CrossFit moment so far?
Deadlifting a PR of 385# a few weeks back, showed how much progress I had made.
7. What do you like most about CrossFit Integrity?
Far and away the best part of CrossFit Integrity is the trainers and the people, the camaraderie and instruction is second to none I have ever experienced, even when I was playing competitive sports. Keep it up guys, I’m gonna miss y’all!
8. Favorite WOD?
Any WOD I can Rx…
9. Least favorite WOD?
Any WOD I can’t Rx………
10. Favorite movement?
Pushups
11. Least favorite movement?
Rope climbs and double-unders, because I can’t do them (yet!). Oh, and burpees of course.
12. Favorite place to eat in Charleston?
Only been to two, O’Briens and King Street Grille on Folly, not exactly Cordon Bleu cuisine you might say.

Simon, when are you leaving?
What’s this “I’m gonna miss ya’ll” crap????!!!!
I second what Sarah said….
We voted. You’re not allowed to leave. Thank you. The end.
Definitely not leaving…totally unacceptable…
yeah Simon, how come you never asked our opinion on this???
Rhosllannerchrugog, now where’s my six-pack? And you can’t leave, because you’re at the top and I need to beat you in everything before you move on
Simon, you can’t leave! You’re my encourager! It just won’t be the same!
Thanks for the nice comments guys, I REALLY am going to miss you all.
My last WOD will be the 5pm class this Wednesday.
