1. In general what’s your background?
I grew up in Naples, Florida. It was nice growing up in a place where it’s sunny and warm year round, but when I was 18 I was ready to try something new for college. I went to Auburn for my undergrad. I graduated from Auburn in 2009 with a degree in elementary education. I moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia in 2010 and taught at an elementary school in that area for two years. St. Simons Island was fun, however it was a bit small. I have always wanted to move to Charleston, so I decided to move here last summer. I have taught second grade in Berkeley County for the past two school years.
2. Age, occupation?
26, second grade teacher
3. How did you get to know about CrossFit and why did you start?
A couple of years ago my roommate in St. Simons told me she was starting to do CrossFit. At the time I had no idea what CrossFit was. I eventually gave it a try myself. I really liked how everyday was a different workout. I had always been a distance runner and I started to get bored with just running. I loved the high energy atmosphere. Everyone was really encouraging and helpful. Needless to say I kept coming back!
4. How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
CrossFit has helped me become stronger. It has helped me with other things I like to do, such as running and yoga. I feel that I overall have more energy now and my endurance has improved.
5.name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
I would like to be able to string together pull-ups and to improve my push-ups.
6. Favorite CrossFit moment so far?
Firsts are always exciting. I was pretty excited when I got my first double under and first pull-up.
7. What do you like most about CrossFit Integrity?
I love how the coaches are so knowledgable and helpful. Everyone always has a positive attitude. The gym makes everyone feel welcome.
8. Favorite WOD?
Any WOD with running (weird I know). In St. Simons I enjoyed “Courtney’s Farewell WOD” right before I moved to Charleston (lots of running, ab mat sit-ups, and kettle bell swings).
9. Least favorite WOD?
Any WOD with overhead squats or dead lifts. Or a lot of pull-ups.
10. Favorite movement?
Push press and kettlebell swings
11. Least favorite movement?
12. Favorite place to eat in Charleston?
CrossFit Integrity, Charleston, SC
