Today, we pay tribute one day after the 5-year anniversary…..

On June 18, 2007, a fire in Charleston, SC claimed the lives of 9 firefighters after a flashover and structural collapse. From the time of the initial call to the collapse was 37 minutes. In the fire service around the world they became known as the “Charleston 9″.

“Charleston 9″ HERO WOD

9 rounds for time:
3 rope climbs (15ft)
6 handstand pushups
9 box jumps (30in/24in)
6 toes-to-bar
3 deadlift (275lb/185lb)

Scale weight and movements as necessary. Sub 5 pullups for each rope climb. WEAR RED IF YOU HAVE IT!

    What an amazingly brutal and inspiring workout. I remember this from 2 years ago , 2 weeks into my crossfit career thinking I’ll never RX this. Great job to everyone at 6am! New favorite WOD

    Make sure you HYDRATE!!! Drink plenty of water throughout the day! 15-30min of hydration before you come to the gym will not help your body!

    First wod rx’ing the rope climbs – thanks Mark and James for all you do. Y’all kept me from subbing those. I’m coming back to finish this for those last three guys . . .

    This was one of the most brutal and fun wods I can recall ever doing! GOD bless the families that lost loved ones in this tragic fire.

    Just missed those last 3 deadlifts!
    Finished those after so technically 45:23 :-)

    subbed 9 rope pulls & 2 abmats for HSPU
    Great hard WOD to keep the memory of the 9 alive!!

    6AM- 45 min time limit. 7rnds completed…rope climb x3rnds, rope pull from floor x1 rnd, pullups x1 rnd, pullups w/ band for last 2 rnds.
